Dream Diaries: Episode 11

Hello everyone! Shenaja here. Welcome back to Episode 11 of the Dream Diaries. ✨

I’m so excited to share this latest episode! The weather has been warming up ☀️ (and I am so grateful for that), but with that can come trouble for your skin. In this episode, I’ll be sharing with you skin tips and ways to look after your skin in the warm weather!

My Skin and I 🤍

I'm actually pretty nervous about diving back into treatments at the clinic because I just know I'm in for a major purge – not just a tiny one. It's been building up for a while now.

Over the past few weeks, I've been noticing my skin getting more congested, and honestly, it's making me uneasy about having to deal with it… 🫣 I haven’t been able to look after my skin properly when I was away, so I will be doing a course of Customised Gold Peel. My skin will purge but doing consistent treatments will stimulate cell renewal turnover rate leaving behind glowing and clearer skin! ✨

My graduation is happening tomorrow (ahh!), so I've decided to hold off until after that big day. Luckily, I don't have any travel plans, but there are still a handful of events on my calendar.
Although, I know from our strong, determined clients that purging is just a rite of passage. It's something we all go through, and it eventually clears up. I see our results first hand so that’s what’s keeping me hopeful! 😁

I want glass skin too, you guys! I’ll be taking my OBSERV photos this week so by next month I will share them in the update of Dream Diaries. I hope the anticipation isn’t too much for you ~

I'm curious, though, how's your own skincare adventure been? If you see me in-clinic, I'm all ears and would love to swap stories!

Weather changes + indications it can trigger 🌦

The time all Aussies have been waiting for… warm weather! It’s right around the corner and we’ve already had a little taste test of just how enjoyable it can be. 🌞

Even though we may find the warm weather to be everything we’ve ever needed, our skin isn’t necessarily feeling the same way. Today I thought I’d outline some potential ways that the heat can trigger our skin plus some tips to avoid it!

Acne

First things first, acne breakouts. A large majority of our clients suffer from acne and congestion so heat and humidity can increase oil production in the skin. That can then lead to clogged pores and acne breakouts (the worst!)

Regular cleansing and lightweight, dermatologically tested skincare products can help manage this.

Sunburn

Prolonged exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can lead to sunburn, characterised by redness, pain, and peeling skin. It's important to use sunscreen and wear protective clothing to prevent sunburn.

Even though you may not experience sunburn, sun damage (pigmentation such as melasma and freckles) can still occur with overexposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

This is my skin after my vacation in Europe… don’t be like me and look after your skin! 😖

Melasma

Melasma is a type of pigmentation, characterised by brown or grey-brown patches on the face, and is common in our ethnic clients. Pigment-producing cells become hyperactive and produce too much pigment. Sun exposure is one of the biggest culprits of melasma.

Sunscreen acts as a protective barrier against harmful UV rays, effectively preventing the exacerbation of melasma and the worsening of hyperpigmentation. Additionally, it can contribute to the fading of existing dark spots and a reduction in melasma - this is an important step in managing pigmentation.

All in all, warm weather can exacerbate existing skin conditions such as psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema due to increased inflammation and sweating.

❗️Proper management and sunscreen are crucial.

Summer Skincare: Cleanser 🫧

Summer skincare is right around the corner and even though our dr.dream range was developed to withstand all weather conditions, I wanted to elaborate a little more.

Each month I’m going to outline a product and why and how it works for the summer months. First things first: Hydramemory Cleansing Foam!

  • 💐 Lavender infuses a touch of soothing luxury, perfect for calming your skin. It helps maintain your skin's moisture balance, keeping it hydrated and happy, even during the hottest days.

  • 🛡 Peony Root Extract steps in as your summer saviour. It's an antioxidant powerhouse, that shields your skin from the harsh effects of UV rays and other environmental stressors that are more prevalent in the summer. This means your skin stays protected and radiant.

  • 💧 And let's not forget about hydration – a must for summer! Birch Sap and Bamboo Water work their magic to soothe and quench your skin's thirst, which can be exacerbated by sun exposure.

Now, here's a summer skincare tip! ☺️

Double cleansing is key during the summer months! The combination of sunscreen, sweat, and environmental debris can lead to build-up on your skin.

That's where our Cleansing Foam comes in, removing impurities gently. Follow up with your regular cleanser for a clean slate.

So, stay fresh, stay protected, and make the most of your summer glow with our Hydramemory Cleansing Foam!

That wraps up Episode 11 of the Dream Diaries! We post a new blog fortnightly, so make sure to keep an eye out for our next post! Thank you all for reading 🥰

- Love, Shenaja TDSC 🤍
